Testing & Monitoring
Our team carries out two types of tests: soil tests and structure related tests. Such testing may be required prior to design of new structures or assessing or retrofitting existing structures.
We apply tests to structures mainly during the execution of assessment or seismic retrofit design projects. These can either be the testing of structural members such as columns, beams, etc. or whole structures. Testing of the whole structure can be done when its dynamic characteristics must be identified, and this is mostly needed for the historical structures where many different types of materials have been used for a single structural member. For this type of test, we collaborate with national and international institutes who are experts in this field.
A range of soil tests are available to be carried out by sub-contractors on our behalf. In-situ and laboratory soil mechanics tests can be performed if it is in the scope of our services
Apart from the testing explained above, our team has experience in installation and operation of structural health monitoring systems for suspension bridges over Bosphorus Straits in Istanbul, Turkey
Orient Research can provide clients with the wide range of testing services including the following and more:
○ Concrete compression test (laboratory)
○ Structural member exposure of reinforcement test (in-situ)
○ Structural Steel Non-destructive testing (in-situ)
○ Reinforcement identification by means of cover-meter test (in-situ)
○ Reinforcement bar/ steel tensile test (laboratory)
○ Monitoring systems for the structures
